The Chinese regime continues to harass and monitor dissidents and lawyers. On Saturday morning, two Chinese lawyers were stopped from travelling to the United States to meet with legal experts.

According to the U.S.-based Christian rights group, ChinaAid the two lawyers Li Subin and Jiang Tianyong were blocked at customs in Beijing and Shanghai airports.

The men planed to observe U.S. midterm elections and meet with U.S. congressmen, district court judges and legal scholars during a two-week trip, organized by ChinaAid.

ChinaAid head Bob Fu was able to speak to both layers. He said officials told Jiang Tianyong that if he left China he could endanger state security.

Chinese police started monitoring and detaining more activists, lawyers and scholars since the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to jailed human rights activist Liu Xiaobo. Liu’s wife was put under house arrest and other lawyers and activist have reported being harassed and monitored.
