Charlotte Church has set the record straight about her split from Gavin Henson and her relationship with new boyfriend Johnny Powell.

In an interview, the Welsh singer insisted she did not start dating Johnny, who is a guitarist in her band, until months after she had broken up with the rugby fly-half.

Charlotte, 24, said: "I kind of asked Gav's permission in a way. I said to him. 'I really want you to know that nothing ever went on between me and Johnny while we were still together.'"

The musician's former girlfriend sold a story to a Sunday newspaper claiming Charlotte was the cause of her break-up.

Voice Of An Angel, Charlotte, has two children with Strictly Come Dancing contestant Gavin. She said the pair decided not to get married after Gavin came back from Norway for the ITV1 reality show 71 Degrees North, stating: "We'd both had a change of heart."
