Indian Air Force Officers Begin Expedition to Himalayas

An Indian Air Force expedition to the Himalayan region flagged off on Friday in New Delhi.

13 officers began their journey “Explore the Himalayas” on ten motorcycles from Indian Gate.

The expedition will travel through different Indian states and cover a distance of more than 1,500 miles.

[V. V. Singh, Wing Commander, Indian Air Force]:
“Our motive behind this is to show the adventure part of the Air Force. So we intend to talk to people about the Air Force. We would talk to the school children, civil crowd during our overnight stay. People should know what armed forces and the Air Force is all about.”

The team will be traveling through 11 passes of the Himalayas, including high passes such as Baralach La and Khardung La.

The journey to the Himalayan region will cover Kasauli, Kaza, Siachen Base Camp and return through Kargil, Srinagar and Amritsar.
