The payment addresses financial damages Alaska incurred from Flight 1282 and subsequent 737 MAX groundings. Alaska Airlines said in an SEC filing it lost around $160 million in first quarter profit due to lost revenue, irregular operations costs, and fleet restoration costs. The January blowout prompted the FAA to ground similar 737 MAX 9 jets for inspections, causing flight cancellations.
