More range and faster charging coming to Ford E-Transit for 2024 model year
2024 Ford E-Transit Gets 32 Percent More Range to Celebrate Van Line's 10th Anniversary in America
The Ford Transit is celebrating its 10th anniversary in America this year, and to mark the occasion, the automaker is making an even better electric version of the minivan. For 2024, E-Transit will get more range and faster charging speeds to make it more convenient for customers.
While the minibus previously had to make do with a 64 kWh battery, it will be equipped with an 89 kWh battery pack for 2024, giving drivers a range of up to 256 km. That's significantly more than commercial vans with a range of 74 miles (119 km) typically traveling in a day (according to Ford's telematics data), and 26 percent more and 32 percent more than what the 2023 E-Transit can offer in its low-roof guise. more than the high-roof model could achieve.
Additionally, Ford added a new dual onboard chargers to the E-Transit; This means it can be charged at a peak power of 176 kW. As a result, the automaker estimates that the van can regain up to 67 miles of range with just 15 minutes of DC fast charging. This is a 49 percent increase over the 2023 model.
The E-Transit takes six hours and 11 minutes to fully charge when plugged into a Ford Pro Series 2 80A charger. This is 22 percent faster than the electric van could previously achieve and makes it easier for fleet owners to charge their vehicles overnight.
Introduced in 2022, Ford says E-Transit is currently used by more than 5,500 companies in 65 industries nationwide. Since joining the lineup, the Van has saved more than 3 million gallons of fuel and prevented 55 million pounds (25 million kg) of CO2 emissions.
The Transit van family entered the US market in 2014 and became the country's best-selling commercial van just six months later. Ford claims that 99 percent of the 1.2 million Transits that rolled out of the Kansas City Assembly Plant in the last decade are still on the road.
Sales of the 2024 E-Transit begin this spring, and prices start at $51,095 (excluding destination charge) for models equipped with the enhanced range option. Buyers may be eligible to receive up to $7,500 in incentives under the Commercial Clean Vehicle Tax Credit.
