Fans on social media have ripped into an 'embarrassing' video of Jordan Henderson posted on Ajax's pages.

Henderson moved to the Dutch side in January after being unsettled in the Middle East, having left Liverpool for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq in the summer.

While he's only played four games since joining Ajax, he's already leaving a lasting impression - with the club's social media paying tribute to his 'mentality'.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the club shared a video that showcased Henderson's pressing abilities, as he chased down a goalkeeper to earn a throw.

In the video, the former Liverpool captain can be seen bursting out in celebration after winning the throw, having run nearly half the pitch to get there.

While the club's social media account took the opportunity to praise Henderson for his actions, some users online didn't see it the same way.

'You guys gonna post any content where he is actually doing something constructive with the football?', one user wrote.

Another said: 'Hahahaha is this a highlight? He ran for and didn’t get the ball then cheered? One of the worst players I’ve ever had the displeasure of watching.'

'Hendo is/was a press-resistant merchant who runs/presses aimlessly without thought. This invariably breaks the team structure and allows a press resistant technical team to pass round/through,' one user said.

In a blunt take, one supporter wrote: 'Good grief this is embarrassing'.

Some took the opportunity to mention Henderson's chances of playing in this summer's Euros, with one fan saying: 'Southgate will be loving that though as an excuse to pick him'.

In a similar theme, another said: 'Southgate watching that ‘passion’ so he can explain why he’s starting next to Kalvin Phillips in the Euros!'

Henderson called an end to his time in Merseyside during the 2023 summer transfer window, when he secured a lucrative move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.

However, things didn't work out for the England international - who has since opted for a return to Europe and joined Dutch giants Ajax during the January window.

Henderson had been a crucial part of Liverpool's side since joining the club for £20m from Sunderland back in 2011.

In his twelve years on Merseyside, Henderson lifted seven major trophies - including the Premier League and Champions League.
