Republic Day marks the occasion when the Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950. The constitution was created and was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on November 26, 1949, and then came into effect in 1950. Dr. Rajendra Prasad joined his office and began his tenure as the president of India in 1950.
