Birmingham headlines 9 January: Man stabbed in Solihull restaurant

A 27 year old man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was stabbed inside a restaurant in Knowle just before Christmas. A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A second man was also threatened.

West Midlands Police have arrested four men following a disorder in Birmingham city centre on Sunday. They were called to Colmore row at about 6:30pm. Three were arrested on suspicion of robbery. One has since been de-arrested. One other was arrested for recall to prison.

A group of magnet fishers from Birmingham were left stunned after pulling a Royal Navy cannon dating back to the 19th Century out of a river. The Peaky Dippers spent hours scouring the River Don. They were left gobsmacked when they latched on to the 3ft antique cannon.
