Canadians say goodbye to plastic straws, cutlery and checkout bags
Canadian restaurants and cafes are prohibited from providing plastic straws, food containers, checkout bags, or cutlery to customers as of Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023. Despite a court ruling deeming it unconstitutional, the ban on single-use plastics, introduced last year, is being phased in as part of Ottawa's goal to achieve zero plastic waste by 2030.
