India defeated Australia by six wickets with 52 balls to spare in their ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 opener in Chennai on Sunday (October 8). Batting first, the Aussies did lose Mitchell Marsh early but star batters David Warner and Steve Smith were steadily building a stand. Ravindra Jadeja, then, got the prized wicket of Steve Smith as Indian spinners broke the Aussie back with quick wickets. India's chase itself got off to a horror start, losing three wickets for just two runs. But Virat Kohli and KL Rahul ensured a big win with a 165-run stand. (Video: ICC)
