"The results for Assembly elections to three north-eastern states- Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya came out yesterday. Recording yet another victory, the BJP retained power in Tripura. Even the Congress+Left alliance couldn’t dent the party’s prospects much, whereas the new entrant Tipra Motha gained big. In Nagaland, NDPP+BJP alliance won the maximum seats whereas Meghalaya gave a hung verdict in the election. But the BJP has declared support to the Conrad Sangma’s NPP and he has now staked claim to form a govt in the state. With this, the BJP is effectively in all the winning coalitions in the North-East. Congress on the other hand has decimated further in the North-East.
