Lord Surya is worshiped on Makar Sankranti. A fast is observed for them and donations are made throughout the day according to devotion. On this day, the Uttarayan of the Sun takes place, so the importance of all these things increases further. According to the Puranas, on this day, by taking a holy bath in the holy river or the Ganges, one attains virtue. One who does this also gets salvation. Apart from this, the ancestors should be meditated on Sankranti festival and tarpan should be done for them.

मकर संक्रांति पर भगवान सूर्य की पूजा की पूजा की जाती है। उनके लिए व्रत रखा जाता है और दिनभर श्रद्धा के अनुसार दान दिया जाता है। इस दिन सूर्य के उत्तरायण होता है इसलिए इन सब चीजों का महत्व और बढ़ जाता है। पुराणों के अनुसार इस दिन तीर्थ या गंगा में स्नान करने से पुण्य की प्राप्ति होती है। ऐसे करने वाले को मोक्ष भी मिलता है। इसके अलावा संक्रांति पर्व पर पितरों का ध्यान करना चाहिए और उनके निमित्त तर्पण जरूर करना चाहिए।
