At least 19k people in Boulder, CO, had to be evacuated from their homes on Saturday afternoon after a wildfire broke out in the area. About 200 firefighters from 30 agencies were called to control the wildfire. By Sunday afternoon, the fire had burned approx 190 acres and was about 35% contained, according to the Boulder Office of Emergency Management. Residents were allowed to return to their homes by Sunday evening.
Mike Smith of the Boulder Incident Management Team said that firefighters were able to contain the fire due to the cool temperatures and calm winds. The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported and no structures had been damaged, Colorado’s Office of Emergency Management said late Sunday.
