Ahoi Ashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. On this day Mata Ahoi is worshiped with rituals and fasting is observed. Along with Ahoi Ashtami fasting, Lord Bholenath and Mata Parvati are also worshiped on this day. Ahoi Ashtami fast is observed for the longevity of the child. Not only this, women keep a fast on this day to get children. It is said that the fast of Ahoi Ashtami is considered very auspicious for those women whose children are not getting longevity or are dying in the womb. This year Ahoi Ashtami fast will be observed on 28 October. By the way, three days after Karva Chauth, Ahoi fast is kept on Ashtami. On this day women keep fast since morning and remain hungry. At night the fast is broken by offering arghya to the stars. At the same time, in many places, women also break the fast on this day after seeing the moon.

कार्तिक मास के कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी को अहोई अष्टमी मनाई जाती है। इस दिन विधि-विधान के साथ माता अहोई की पूजा की जाती है और व्रत रखा जाता है। अहोई अष्टमी व्रत के साथ ही इस दिन भगवान भोलेनाथ और माता पार्वती की पूजा भी की जाती है। अहोई अष्टमी का व्रत संतान की दीर्घायु के लिए रखा जाता है। इतना ही नहीं, संतान प्राप्ति के लिए इस दिन महिलाएं व्रत रखती हैं। कहते हैं कि जिन महिलाओं की संतान दीर्घायु न हो रही हो या फिर गर्भ में ही मृत्यु हो रही हो उन महिलाओं के लिए भी अहोई अष्टमी का व्रत काफी शुभ माना जाता है। इस साल अहोई अष्टमी का व्रत 28 अक्टूबर को रखा जाएगा. वैसे करवा चौथ के तीन दिन बाद अष्टमी के दिन अहोई का व्रत रखा जाता है। इस दिन महिलाएं सुबह से व्रत रखती हैं और भूखी रहती हैं। रात को तारों को अर्घ्य देकर व्रत खोला जाता है। वहीं, कई जगह महिलाएं इस दिन भी चांद देखकर व्रत खोलती हैं।
