While speaking to ANI on Cyclone Fani and current weather situation in the affected states, Chennai’s Deputy Director General of Meteorology (Sc. ‘F’), S Balachandran said, “The cyclonic storm Fani, on April 29 intensified into serious cyclonic storm and on April 30 morning it intensified into very severe cyclonic storm. Further, it is expected to move in the northwest direction till May 01 and after that it will slowly move in northeast direction towards Odisha coast.” “Fani cyclone is a severe cyclonic storm. It is premature to immediately compare it,” he added.
