During the summer, Galicia, Spain, is dry and prone to wildfires. According to conservation news organization Mongabay, when Galicia farmers implemented agroforestry practices on their lands, none of them were burned.
Agroforestry is a land-use management system that involves allowing livestock to graze on land amid crops and trees. This practice provides food and cover for livestock, while the grazing improves soil quality for crops through the deposit of urine and feces from animals.
