INS Vikrant, also known as Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 1 (IAC-1) is an aircraft carrier constructed by the Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) for the Indian Navy. It is the first aircraft carrier to be built in India. Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) ‘Vikrant’ successfully accomplished its maiden 5-day sea voyage on August 08. Trials progressed as planned and system parameters proved satisfactory. The carrier would continue to undergo series of sea trials to prove all equipment and systems prior handing over the vessel to the Indian Navy. The aircraft carrier Vikrant is expected to be commissioned into service next year.(JA)

భారతదేశపు తొలి స్వదేశీ విమాన వాహక నౌక IAC విక్రాంత్ ఐదురోజుల సముద్ర ప్రయాణాన్ని ఆదివారం విజయవంతంగా ముగించింది. వచ్చే ఏడాది ఆగస్టు నాటికి ఈ 40,000 టన్నుల యుద్ధనౌక విక్రాంత్‌ను భారతీయ నావికాదళంలో అధికారికంగా చేరుస్తారు. విక్రాంత్ దాదాపు ₹ 23,000 కోట్ల వ్యయంతో నిర్మించబడింది. ఐ.ఎన్.ఎస్ విక్రాంత్ 262 మీ. పొడవు, 60 మీ. వెడల్పుతో 40,000 టన్నుల బరువుంటుంది. దీనిలో స్కీ జంప్‌తో పాటు, షార్ట్ టేకాఫ్ బట్ అరెస్టెడ్ రికవరీ (STOBAR) వ్యవస్థ ఉంటుంది.
