Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has been admitted to hospital in Mumbai a day early due to pain in the abdomen, his party said on March 30. The 80-year-old former Union Minister was to be hospitalised on March 31 for endoscopy & surgery. “He is admitted in Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai,” NCP leader Nawab Malik tweeted. Pawar has been diagnosed with a gall bladder disease & needs surgery, his party had said on March 30. Nawab Malik said he had felt some pain in his abdomen on March 28 evening & had undergone a checkup, following which the doctors found stones in his gall bladder. Pawar's hospitalisation comes in the middle of a major crisis in Maharashtra's ruling coalition of the Shiv Sena, NCP & Congress. The 14-month-old government led by CM Uddhav Thackeray is under unprecedented strain over the Mukesh Ambani bomb scare case, in which Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, is facing allegations.
