With franchises shifting gears in preparation for the IPL 2021, Aakash Chopra has revealed that two teams attempted to 'poach' the new Rajasthan Royal's skipper - Sanju Samson. The cricketer-turned-commentator has stated that 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings and Virat Kohli-led RCB had set their eyes on the young Kerala batsman who had taken the IPL 2020 by storm with his powerful knocks. Chopra reasoned that after receiving interest for Samson, the Royals would have thought to increase his 'stature' in the team.

भारत के पूर्व क्रिकेटर आकाश चोपड़ा ने एक बड़ा खुलासा किया है. आकाश चोपड़ा ने बताया है कि संजू सैमसन को चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स और आरसीबी लेना चाहती थी. अपनी टीम में शामिल करना चाहती थी. पर राजस्थान रॉयल्स ने बड़ी चाल खेल दी. उन्होंने संजू सैमसन को ही टीम का कप्तान बना दिया. अब इससे बड़ा ऑफर किसी भी खिलाड़ी के लिए कुछ हो तो नहीं सकता है. आईपीएल में टीम का परमानेंट कप्तान बनना, बड़ी बात होती है. प्लस आपको सैलरी में भी बढ़ोतरी मिलती है. भारत के ही खिलाड़ी को इसलिए भी कप्तान बनाया गया, क्योंकि वो हमेशा उपलब्ध रहेंगे. ये समस्या नहीं होती है. आकाश चोपड़ा ने स्टार स्पोर्ट्स के एक कार्यक्रम में कहा, 'सीएसके और आरसीबी ने सैमसन को लुभाने की कोशिश की थी. ये टीमें राजस्थान रॉयल्स से सैमसन को ट्रेड करना चाहती थी.'
