Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the nationwide proclamation of emergency which the government had secured from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is not a military coup.

"Let me assure you that a civilian government will continue to function.

"The emergency proclamation by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is not a military coup and curfew will not be enforced," he said in a televised address.
