In its Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved the addition of two more franchises to the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) roster. Given IPL's popularity, several corporate houses were keen on bidding for new IPL teams. While the 2021 edition will be played with the existing 8 teams, the next season will be a 10-team affair. It also means that there will be no mega auction for ahead of IPL 2021 - which should come as a huge relief for the existing franchises as there's not much time left for the next edition.

क्रिकेट फैंस के लिए बड़ी खुशखबरी है. आईपीएल में दो टीमें नयी आ रही है. बीसीसीआई ने एलान किया है कि साल 2022 के आईपीएल में आठ नहीं बल्कि दस टीमें हिस्सा लेने वाली है. फिलहाल, आईपीएल आठ टीमें ही खेलती हैं. बता दें पहले कयास लगाए जा रहे थे कि आईपीएल 2021 से ही 2 टीमें बढ़ाई जा सकती हैं लेकिन इस साल मेगा ऑक्शन भी होनी है जिसकी वजह से 10 टीमों को 2022 से खिलाया जाएगा. हालांकि, आईपीएल की 2 नई टीमों के मालिक कौन होंगे ये सवाल सभी के लिए काफी दिलचस्प है. खबरों के मुताबिक आईपीएल टीम खरीदने की रेस में अडानी ग्रुप और संजीव गोयनका आगे रहेंगे. आईपीएल में एक टीम अहमदाबाद की हो सकती है जिसे खरीदने की मंशा अडानी ग्रुप पहले ही जाहिर कर चुका है.
