As protests against the Hathras case mounted and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi planned another visit to the victim’s family, UP government on Saturday rushed two of its top officials to meet the family.

Uttar Pradesh government sent senior officials, including the additional chief secretary (home) and DGP to Hathras, to meet the family of the alleged gangrape victim.

Additional chief secretary (home) Awanish Awasthi and Director General of Police HC Awasthi met the victim's family in Hathras on Saturday afternoon and are expected to submit a report to the chief minister upon returning, a government spokesperson said.
