The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed State Governments to provide dry rations for identified $ex workers by National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) and State Governments sans insistence of identity proof. A bench comprising Justices L. Nageswara Rao and Ajay Rastogi further directed the State Governments to file an affidavit stipulating the implementation of the instant order for directions along with relevant particulars and the number of $ex workers who were benefitted thereon within 4 weeks.

केंद्र सरकार ने सुप्रीम कोर्ट में सहमति जतायी है कि राज्यों में सेक्स वर्कर्स को कम कीमतों यानी कि छूट पर राशन मुहैया कराया जाए. इस मामले में एक जनहित याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि सभी राज्य और केंद्र शासित प्रदेश सभी सेक्स वर्करों को सूखा राशन मुहैया कराए. अदालत ने कहा कि नेशनल एड्स कंट्रोल ऑर्गेनाइजेशन और जिले की संस्थाओं द्वारा जिन सेक्स वर्करों को पहचान की गई है, उनसभी को राज्य सरकार और केंद्र शासित प्रदेश सूखा राशन मुहैया कराए.
