런 코리안 위드 BTS'... 미국, 이집트 등 4개국 나라 '아미'들 BTS 영상으로 한국어 배운다
Many fans of the K-pop stars BTS are learning Korean. And to get more fans interested in Korea's language and culture, a new series of books has been launched called 'Learn Korean with 'BTS'.
Our Kim Bo-kyoung tells us more.
K-pop supergroup BTS's recent all-English single 'Dynamite' is proving to be a big hit,... but most of their songs are in Korean, and a new series of books could help fans understand the meaning behind those hits.
Korea Foundation, Big Hit Edu and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies - have teamed up to create the books to help BTS fans learn Korean.
"Korean. Wow, this is such a beautiful place Where is it?"
“These ‘Learn Korean with BTS’ books are a way for global fans of BTS to learn Korean language and culture while hearing the voice of their favorite idols.”
Four books with different levels let Korean-learners study the country's language and culture.
They explain the colorful traditional clothes, known as "hanbok", worn by BTS members, and show the details of a traditional hanok house that BTS member Jung Kook once said he wished to live in.
The speaking pen translates Korean into English, Japanese and Spanish.
"Six universities in four countries - the U.S., France, Egypt and Vietnam, have decided to use 'Learn Korean with BTS' as their regular class textbooks. Under the Korea Foundation's control, Big Hit Edu will provide books to each university and the teaching staff of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will teach classes online or through pre-recorded videos."
Those videos will have subtitles and are designed to be used in cooperation with local teachers.
"We hope a variety of BTS-related Korean content can give motivation to fans to enjoy learning Korean."
The foundation hopes these books can be a gateway for BTS fans to learn more about Korea's language and culture.
