A clash broke out between police and locals after they removed barricades in area which was recently de-contained in Odisha’s Rourkela on May 26. However, some areas near it remain to be containment zone. Police resorted to ‘lathi charge’ and used ‘tear gas’ to disperse the mob. More than 12 cops got injured in the incident. Unrest emerged in Rourkela after a clash among locals and police personnel erupted over the lifting of containment zone here. Reportedly, locals demanding lifting of the containment zone here pelted stones towards the cops present in the area and eventually clashed with them. The agitation sparked after buffer zone restrictions were lifted from few areas including the stretch from Madhusudan chakk to AB lane and Power house road to Janata Nibas area.
