Dance is a medium through which people express their feelings. UNESCO decided on 29 April 1982 to celebrate this special style of the world through a special day. This day is celebrated as International Dance Day to commemorate the birth of the legendary dance dancer Jean George Navarre. The reason for the introduction of International Dance Day was to tell the people its specialty. Because many people were not interested in dance. Jean George wanted dance to be included as an essential part in children's education.

नृत्य एक ऐसा माध्यम है जिसकी मदद से लोग अपनी भावनाओं को व्यक्त करते हैं। दुनिया के इस खास अंदाज को एक खास दिन के माध्यम से मनाने का फैसला यूनेस्को ने 29 अप्रैल 1982 को किया गया था। डांस के रिफार्मर महान नर्तक जीन जार्ज नावेरे के जन्म की याद में इस दिन को अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय नृत्य दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय नृत्य दिवस की शुरूआत करने का कारण लोगों को इसकी खासियत बताने के लिए किया गया था। क्योंकि बहुत से लोगों को नृत्य में रूचि नहीं होती थी। जीन जार्ज चाहते थे कि नृत्य को बच्चों के शिक्षा में एक आवश्यक अंग के रूप में शामिल किया जाए।
