ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಕ್ಷರ ಸಂತ ಎಂದೇ ಖ್ಯಾತರಾಗಿರುವ ಹರೇಕಳ ಹಾಜಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಒಲಿದು ಬಂದಿದೆ. ಇವರು ಕಳೆದ 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡದ ಕೊಣಾಜೆ ಸಮೀಪದ ಹರೇಕಳ ನ್ಯೂ ಪಡ್ಪು ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಡ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
