Japan has reportedly rejected South Korean parliamentary speaker Moon Hee-sang's suggestion to resolve the dispute over wartime compensation.
Japanese broadcaster NHK, citing a government source, said,.... that majority of the Abe administration disagrees with Moon's proposal, as it's based on the premise that Japanese firms would compensate.
The report said,... that Japan is NOT likely to accept any suggestions that require Tokyo to pay compensation,... reiterating Prime Minister Abe's comments earlier this week.
The response comes a day after Moon suggested that the two countries combine voluntary efforts, involving citizens and companies from both sides... to fund the compensation of wartime forced laborers as part of efforts to mend the frayed bilateral relations.
