U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated his Special Representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, to become his next deputy secretary of state.
If he passes his confirmation hearing,… Biegun will take over from John Sullivan, who has been tapped to be the next U.S. ambassador to Russia.
However, Trump said Biegun will retain a key responsibility for diplomacy with North Korea, even if he is confirmed to his new role.
Biegun became Washington's point-man on North Korea in 2018 to lead efforts to negotiate the regime's denuclearization.
