Ambala Cantt is also one of the few seats that the Bharatiya Jana Sangh has influenced. This city is also called the science city of Haryana. Because scientific instruments are made in industries here. It is a historical place located on Sher Shah Suri Marg of Chandigarh. Punjabi voters dominate here. Late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was first elected as an MLA from this seat in 1977.
