Public school teachers marched through Bogota on Thursday (September 12) as part of a national strike, but the walkout was overshadowed by students in Bogota who clashed with riot police.

Video shows hooded youth taunting riot police in streets strewn with debris. According to the filmer, a local journalist, the students numbering around 200 were from Bogota's District University and faced off against police for around three hours.

Local media said the teachers were striking over substandard healthcare, increased violence and government failures.
