MANILA - The Philippine National Police is cutting down on the cost of moving alleged pork scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles every time she needs to appear in court. Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP spokesman, earlier said the PNP spends around P120,000 just to bring her from Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna to the Sandiganbayan. He told ABS-CBN News that the cost is now down to P50,000 per trip. "The PNP Region IV-A has already downsized. Nung naging madalas na ang pagbibiyahe, kaunting tao na lang ang kanilang ine-employ. Mga 50-70 personnel na lang po. Halos P50,000 na lang ang kanilang ginagastos kada biyahe," he said. Sindac said transferring Napoles to the PNP Custodial Center would be more cost-effective but admitted that the decision is up to the Sandiganbayan. "The PNP Custodial Center is ready to accept Napoles if the court decides to transfer her here. She will be placed in the female dormitory of the Custodial Center," he said. Aside from Napoles, the PNP also has in their custody the three senators facing plunder and graft charges over the multibillion-peso anomaly -- Jinggoy Estrada, Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. and Juan Ponce Enrile. Estrada and Revilla are both detained at the PNP Custodial Center while Enrile is still under temporary confinement at the PNP General Hospital inside Camp Crame.
