President Aquino was at Camp Aguinaldo Friday morning as the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) celebrated its 78th founding anniversary. Aquino inspected the military's newly purchased Augusta Westland helicopters, and led the awarding of officers and soldiers who have shown exemplary performance on the field. In his speech, the President said the government remains sensitive to the needs of the country's soldiers. He also touted that good governance has resulted in the continued support for the AFP's modernization program. Aquino also thanked the military for securing the elections, and responding to the various crisis and calamities that struck the country this year. ANC, December 20, 2013
