Manipur remains tense and under curfew in the ongoing crisis over creation of 7 new districts and the economic blockade imposed in the state by the United Naga Council stopping the passage of goods into the Impahal valley. On 18th December, vehicles on their way to the predominantly Naga Ukhrul district were allegedly attacked by the Meiteis near Imphal. Over 300 persons travelling in the vehicles were rescued by police.
