The National Economic Advisory Council's vice chair said Japan's export curbs are an attempt to rein in the South Korean economy and take away all the progress it's made.
Lee Jay-min... pointed out, the restoration of the two country's ties in 1965 partially helped the local economy grow, but Japan wants to maintain the old vertical relationship.
He highlighted that South Korea has started to overtake Japan in many industries under the free trade system,... something the Abe administration wants to stop.
Lee outlined ways that political issues go beyond Tokyo, noting that Seoul's depends heavily on China for trade and on the U.S. for defense matters.
