Congressional Democrats Introduce Equal Pay Bill for Women's Soccer The bill withholds funding for the 2026 Men's World Cup unless the world champion U.S. women's team receive fair wages compared to their male counterparts. The U.S. will host the 2026 tournament alongside Canada and Mexico. Legislation was introduced by California's Doris Matsui and Connecticut's Rosa DeLauro. of the USWNT sued U.S. Soccer
over gender discrimination.
As it stands, 61 members of congress have
publicly supported the bill, which has
been called the "GOALS Act."
In order to move on to the Senate,
it needs 218 favorable votes.
