Home Minister and Gambir assemblyman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Wednesday said the government acknowledged that the Johor palace had given its views on the issue of the definition of youth.
But he said that the government should be given space to consistently carry out policies across the country.
He said he was perplexed that the age cap for youth had become an issue despite being deliberated by Johor lawmakers.
On Monday, Johor announced it would maintain its categorisation of youth as those between 15 and 40 for its policies despite the government’s move to lower the age limit to 30. On Tuesday, Johor changed its stand to place the cap to 30.
