Jelutong MP RSN Rayer accused the opposition today of brainwashing fishermen to protest the South Reclamation (PSR) project.

This prompted Tanjung Karang MP Noh Omah to challenge the DAP MP to meet the fishermen personally.

Local NGOs are opposed to the project and have launched a petition asking Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to cancel it, saying that it would negatively impact the environment and livelihoods of the local fishing community.

The project is meant to be developed to fund the RM46 billion Penang Transport Master Plan.
