Amnesty International is urging the International Criminal Court and the UN Human Rights Council to carry out investigation into Venezuelan authorities,... saying they have committed crimes against humanity in their crackdown on anti-government protests.
The London-based rights group released a statement on Tuesday which said there were arbitrary detentions, injuries and deaths caused by the excessive use of force by President Nicolas Maduro's government.
Amnesty sent a fact-finding mission to the country in February and found at least 47 people were killed during the protests from January 21st to 25th.
It also says over 900 people, including children, have been arbitrarily detained during the same period.
