The Bombay High Court will hear a PIL on Tuesday that alleged bias on the part of the Maharashtra government towards Sanjay Dutt and an abuse of discretionary powers to grant repeated parole to the actor. The move came a day after the Union Home Ministry sought a report from the state government seeking an explanation on the process followed in providing relief to Dutt.
Since his surrender in May last year after having exhausted all legal options, Dutt who was convicted in 1993 Bombay blast case has managed to stay out of jail for four of the nine months.
In October, the actor was let out twice on furlough for a total period of a month on medical grounds. In December, Dutt was let out for a month again after he sought parole citing his wife Manyata's ill health.
