If the Congress government in Karnataka wants former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to celebrate Diwali this time, they have to meet his two demands before the festivities commence.

Reason: Yeddyurappa has decided against celebrating Diwali to protest what he calls "anti-people'' stand of the state government. The former CM has taken exception to the government's "Bidaai'' scheme, where poor Muslim girls, whose family's annual income is less than Rs 1.5 lakh will be given Rs 50,000 at the time of their marriage.
