The BCCI have permitted the left hander to sign up with English county side Essex for the remainder of the English season.

Gambhir is expected to join Essex ahead of their County Championship match against Northamptonshire which begins on August 20. He is expected to play Six four day matches and four limited over matches.

Gambhir's arrival should come as a huge shot in the arm for Essex as they push for the county championship.
But in seaming and windy conditions. It won't be that easy for the left hander to prove his class.
England pitches are generally bowling friendly wickets. where the bowler swings the ball at will.
For Gambhir, the England conditions will be a real test.
The left hander has always found the overseas condition hard to adjust his batting.
When India toured England in 2011, Gambhir's bat hardly talked.
