The high profile contest between Shiromani Akali Dal candidates Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Badal senior's estranged nephew and Manpreet Singh Badal, chief of People's Party of Punjab (PPP) who is backed by the Congress, was already a matter of debate but it grew more interesting when Manpreet Singh Badal, filed his nomination as an independent on Wednesday.
