1 Just like the first chapter, the second chapter of Bhagavad Gita constitutes a brief summary of the discourse between Lord Krishna and Arjuna.

2 The last chapter ended with Arjuna stating his utter inability to cope with the situation and refusing to perform his duty in the forthcoming battle.

3 This chapter is referred to as ‘Sankhya Yog’ which means the path of knowledge.

4 It is identified as a summary of the entire Bhagavad Gita since it touches various subjects such as Karma yog, Bhakti yog, Sanyasa yog, Jnyana yog and Buddhi yog.

5 The first stanza of the second chapter opens with Sanjaya expressing Arjuna’s feelings before Dhritarashtra. It is delivered as follows;

|| Sanjaya Uvacha

Tam Thatha Kripayavishtam Ashru-Purnakuleshanam

Visidantam Idam Vakyam Uvacha Madhusudanah ||

6 The translation of this verse is as follows;

Sanjaya said,

Madhusudhana thus spoke these words to grief-stricken Arjuna, when he noticed that his eyes were brimming with tears and was overwhelmed with pity and compassion.

7 In the next video of the second chapter of Bhagavad Gita, you will get to know what Lord Krishna said about Arjuna's ignorance
