1 Agni Durga is described as a fierce goddess riding on an equally ferocious lion.

2 As per other Hindu scriptures, Lord Indra once figured that Lord Shiva and Parvati's respective energies while meditating combine together into a divine pellet.

3 He then appointed Lord Agni to secretly capture that sphere of created energy to keep it safe from the demon Tarkasura.

4 Lord Agni did as instructed but when the Goddess Parvati came to her conscious, she mistook the act as thievery.

5 Goddess Parvati fumed at this action and took the form of Durga with a blazing complexion.

6 This deity was termed Agni Durga which means the inflamed appearance of goddess Durga.

7 Agni Durga has eight hands with different weapons that include disc, sword, shield, arrow, bow, noose and mace.
