The 5-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday said that there won’t be any hearing in the case but only the date and schedule of the hearing will be decided. The Supreme Court earlier on Tuesday had said that it will start the urgent hearing in the Ayodhya land dispute case from January 10. However, beginning the hearing as per the schedule today, the apex court said that it won’t be hearing the case today and will only decide further date and schedule.
According to reports, member of the 5-judge bench of the Supreme Court Justice UU Lait withdrew his name earlier this morning, following which the CJI said that a new Supreme Court bench will be constituted in the Ayodhya land dispute case. Meanwhile, the hearing has been adjourned till January 29.
The new Supreme Court bench will be constituted before the next hearing in the case which is January 29. Speaking on the latest developments, Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy said that the government should build the temple on its own. Swamy added that the government should act on the basis of a 1994 affidavit in the Ayodhya case and build the temple on it own.
Ahead of the January 29 hearing, the Supreme Court registry will need to give a report on by when will all the documents be translated and the case be ready for hearing.
