A dog stranded on the porch of a flooded home in Lumberton, North Carolina was rescued by members of the animal-rights organization PETA on September 17.

Footage shows the dog pacing up and down the porch, “with no way to escape the rising Hurricane Florence flood waters.”

The rescue team said the dog was “terrified and abandoned”.

PETA said “the team took the dog onto their boat and brought him to a safe staging center at a local police station, from which he would be taken to a local shelter.” Credit: PETA via Storyful
