Smoke from wildfires in British Columbia hung over Vancouver on August 21 in this footage captured from a hill north of the city.

Air quality alerts for much of British Columbia were issued on August 13, over a week ago. On August 21, air quality health alerts said risk was high to very high in metro Vancouver.

CBC predicted a change in weather patterns would blow smoke out of Vancouver starting on Thursday, August 23.
