Typhoon Jongdari made landfall near Kyoto, Japan, just after midnight on Sunday, July 29, causing wild winds and torrential rain across the city.

The typhoon comes just days after a deadly heatwave killed at least 65 people.

In early July, Japan was ravaged by catastrophic floods. Weather forecasters were concerned the typhoon would dramatically strain the already flood-hit regions. Credit: Earth Uncut TV via Storyful
