The Council of Action and Coordination of Malaysian Islamic NGOs gathered at Masjid Negara today and called on muftis to be vocal in voicing out issues pertaining to Muslims in the country.
The council's coordinator, Yahya Long Ali claimed that representatives of 30 NGOs were present at the gathering, including those from Wanita Intifada Negara and Gerakan Pembela Ummah Kedah.
The gathering, which was planned to be a rally, was disrupted by a heavy downpour, which led the small crowd to take shelter under the roof at the entrance to the mosque.
